- Conserve energy- Reduce energy by switching off lights & closing windows if heating is on.
- Give the car a Rest – Leave the car behind, if only for 1 day. Walk or cycle. This is hard for us at Ettiford Farm Cottages as we are out in the country but give it a go.
- Shop Local – Use local products. We are fortunate to have some fantastic producers of food & drink in the area, please ask about local markets & regional organic products.
- Reduce, Reuse & Recycle – Try to avoid overly packaged goods. Try & recycle any waste you have. Bins are provided.
- Be Water Wise – Please use water wisely. Turn off the tap when brushing teeth & adhere to our towel policy.
- Respect Nature – Help us to look after the landscape & wildlife by not littering, guarding against fire & using footpaths & cycle-ways.
And most importantly, have a great time when you are here; we’d like you to come back!
Dogs Welcome
We do have a few rules though that we ask you to respect. We do ask that your dog is not allowed in bedrooms, upstairs or on the furniture at any time and is also not left unattended in the cottage. Please also clean up after your dog and do respect the other guests and make sure your dogs are not a nuisance to near neighbours. Please also keep your dog on a lead when walking around the farm because of the livestock.
There is a nominal charge of £20 per dog.
Dog friendly beaches: see also North Devon Beach Map for Dog Owners
- Woolacombe to comply with Blue Flag and Seaside Award criteria, dogs are not allowed between the rocks at the north end of the beach and the stream from Good Friday or 1st April ( whichever is earliest ) until the first Monday in November. This is a very small area in comparison to the size of the beach. Dogs must be on leads from the stream to Mill Rock from same dates. Dogs may be exercised without restriction from Mill Rock onwards, which if you know the beach at all is a very large area, plus all the sand hills. Miles and miles of fun for your dogs. Please be aware of the danger of Adders in the sand hills, May and June especially when the adults are protecting their young. Adders will by their nature, try to keep away from you, but dogs can be very inquisitive. Woolacombe is a very dog friendly area with plenty of walks which your dog will enjoy.
- Barricane beach dogs are allowed on leads.
- Combesgate beach is no dogs at all, because the steps would be far too dangerous for them.
